U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Ft. Worth Murder Suspect

 JETFTF LogoTyler, TX - Jonnie Warren, Jr., 36, was arrested in Kilgore on Wednesday March 23rd for a homicide and aggravated robbery warrant out of Tarrant County. Warren allegedly shot a woman in Ft. Worth and stole her vehicle on Tuesday, March 22nd.

The initial investigation in Ft. Worth developed information indicating Warren maybe in the East Texas area driving a silver 2010 Chevy Impala. Warren was suspected of having two weapons with him and may also be disguised as a woman, since he stole some female clothing. A request for assistance was sent from the U.S. Marshals in Ft. Worth to the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force (JETFT) in Tyler.

After a comprehensive investigation, the vehicle was located in Longview, TX. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle led law enforcement in a pursuit until it was finally stopped on Birch Lane in Kilgore, TX. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but the passenger, Johnnie Warren, Jr., was arrested without further incident.

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended down the street from where he abandoned the vehicle. He was identified as Phillip Redwine of Kilgore, TX and was a charged with evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Both individuals were booked into the Gregg County Jail.

The law enforcement agencies that participated in the capture of Warren include the Texas DPS, Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, Longview PD, Kilgore PD, Smith County Constable Precinct 4, and the JETFT.

Murder Trial Walk Away Arrested

Suspect Facing Murder Charge Captured

 LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX - Jose Gutierrez, 33, was arrested this morning by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF), in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), where it is alleged that Gutierrez violated the conditions of his pretrial release.

On August 27, 2015, LSFTF officers initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Gutierrez. Through extensive investigative efforts, task force officers determined that Gutierrez was hiding out in a house on the west side of San Antonio. This morning, task force officers entered the house, identified themselves, made contact with Gutierrez, and took him into custody without incident.

On August 25, 2015, Gutierrez was present to begin trial at the Bexar County 175th District Court to face a murder charge that stemmed back to 2013. He had previously been released on bond with electronic ankle monitoring. Reports stated that Gutierrez requested and was allowed to briefly leave the courtroom before jury selection began. Gutierrez allegedly exited the courtroom and never returned. His electronic ankle monitor had been cut off and was later found at a McDonald’s Restaurant located on the east side of San Antonio. A warrant was immediately issued for Gutierrez’s arrest and he remained a fugitive at large until his arrest this morning.

Gutierrez is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert R. Almonte, United States Marshal for the Western District of Texas, stated, “Gutierrez thought he could just walk away and never be held accountable for the crimes he committed, but due to the diligent work of our task force officers, Gutierrez will finally see his day in court.”

U.S. Marshals '15 Most Wanted' Fugitive Found in Island Paradise

Alleged murder suspect J’Wa Charlery hiding in remote area of British Virgin Islands

Washington – An island paradise proved to be the final destination for 15 Most Wanted fugitive J’Wa Charlery when the Royal Virgin Island Police Force (RVIPF) located and arrested him Thursday at approximately 6 a.m. in Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

“The capture of this dangerous individual should send a strong message to criminals here in the United States that you will not be successful crossing global boundaries to avoid prosecution,” said U.S. Marshals Service Director Stacia Hylton. “We worked tirelessly with our international and domestic law enforcement partners to ensure Charlery faced justice. I want to commend the dedicated men and women who spent countless hours investigating this case and tracking down leads, which ultimately lead to this successful arrest.”

Charlery is wanted by the Richmond (Virginia) Police Department for allegedly murdering Eboniece Escobar on Nov. 2, 2014, in a Richmond hotel. The following day, the U.S. Marshals joined the fugitive investigation for Charlery at the request of local authorities; they added him to the 15 Most Wanted list on July 2, 2015.

The fugitive investigation gained momentum when the U.S. Marshals and the Richmond Police Department developed information that Charlery fled to the British Virgin Islands. With credible investigative leads from law enforcement partners, RVIPF converged on a remote location on the island of Tortola, and found Charley standing outside of a tent, where they took him into custody without incident. A subsequent search of Charley’s hideout yielded a large amount of cash and two loaded handguns.

“The arrest of J’Wa Charlery is a testament to the strength of our cooperative law enforcement relationships both here and abroad,” said Robert Mathieson, U.S. Marshal of the Eastern District of Virginia. “In regard to his capture, our combined efforts in this case proved that it was not a matter of if but when. Time was always on our side.”

Charlery is currently being held by RVIPF authorities in Tortola.

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Captures Murder Suspect Wanted in Modesto, California

Reno, NV – Northern Nevada’s U.S. Marshals-led fugitive task force today located and arrested William Eric Smith who is wanted by the Modesto Police Department for a murder committed on June 6. Smith allegedly used a firearm during that crime; however, no gun was recovered during today’s arrest in a joint operation involving the Sparks Police Department, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Earlier this month, the Modesto Police asked the Marshals Service to assist in finding Smith. Through a series of investigative leads, Smith was discovered in the parking lot of a department store on East 2nd Street. He was shortly thereafter taken into custody without incident in Sparks. Smith was then booked into the Washoe County Detention Center to await court hearings and extradition to California.

Christopher Hoye, U.S. Marshal for the District of Nevada, commented that violent offenders are given top priority by the joint federal, state, county, and municipal fugitive task forces. “The Northern Nevada community can rest assured that when help is requested, one hundred percent of our effort is directed toward finding and arresting people wanted in these types of crimes,” Hoye further stated.

The Northern Nevada Fugitive Task Force, led by the U.S. Marshals Service, is a partnership comprised of law enforcement investigators from the United States Marshals Service, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Department of Public Safety (Probation & Parole), Sparks Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, & Firearms (ATF). The task force combines resources and expertise of local, state, and federal law enforcement in a coordinated effort to arrest dangerous fugitives and pursue sexual offenders wherever they are located. Last year the unit was responsible for the arrest of 250 state, local, and federal fugitives.

Fugitive Wanted for 2008 Murder Apprehended in Mexico, Deported to U.S.

Allegedly left victim’s burned, bullet-riddled body in West Mesa

Las Cruces, NM - The U.S. Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) task force took custody of one of New Mexico’s most wanted fugitives, U.S. citizen Mario Jerardo Talavera, on Friday, March 13.

In 2011, Talavera was featured on Fox’s America’s Most Wanted in connection with the gruesome 2008 murder of Danny Baca, a 53-year-old Albuquerque resident. Talavera and two associates allegedly killed Baca over a drug deal gone wrong, and left his burned, bullet-riddled body in the West Mesa where it was found by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department.

“After the crime, Talavera allegedly fled,” said Conrad Candelaria, U.S. Marshal of the District of New Mexico. “We joined the manhunt for him soon after.”

The fugitive investigation gained momentum when U.S. Marshals determined Talavera had fled to Mexico. Further investigation by U.S. Marshals and Mexican authorities revealed that Talavera was located in the city of Cuauhtémoc, where he was then arrested by Mexican authorities. Talavera was deported to the United States and booked into the Otero County Prison Facility in New Mexico. He is facing charges for federal drug trafficking, murder and kidnapping.

“The final chapter of justice denied has been written,” said Candelaria. “This dangerous and violent fugitive will now be held accountable for the gruesome and unconscionable acts of violence committed.

“The U.S. Marshals worked closely with the local district attorney, the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office and many other agencies in the law enforcement community both local and international to ensure justice was served.”

Murder Suspect Finally in U.S. Custody After Nearly a Decade on the Run

Allegedly bludgeoned victim and left body in NM desert

Dona Ana, NM – After nearly a decade on the run, murder suspect Eduardo Estrada-Garcia is finally back on U.S. soil to face his charges. The U.S. Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) task force took custody of Estrada-Garcia on Thursday, January 22, after he was extradited from Mexico.

The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Department in New Mexico wanted Estrada-Garcia for allegedly murdering Emely Ianni- Howard. On June 6, 2006, Estrada-Garcia allegedly bludgeoned Howard to death and left her body in the Chaparral Desert.

During the fugitive investigation for Estrada-Garcia, the U.S. Marshals worked closely with the Border Violence Division of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office to develop information regarding his possible whereabouts, which ultimately led to his apprehension in Mexico in June 2014.

“While Estrada-Garcia evaded capture for nearly a decade, this case is a testament to the vehement dedication of the U.S. Marshals in the District of New Mexico and our many law enforcement partners who were resolute in their commitment to bring this fugitive to justice,” said Conrad Candelaria, U.S. Marshal for the District of New Mexico.

“I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and legal diligence of the Border Violence Division of the New Mexico Attorney General’s Office and the Office of International Affairs of the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division, which navigated and facilitated the complex extradition process so that this fugitive could be returned to New Mexico and be held accountable for the horrific crimes allegedly committed.”

Murder Suspect Captured After 4 Year Investigation

San Antonio, TX – Joe Martinez III, 24, was arrested this afternoon by the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD), where it is alleged that Martinez committed 1st degree murder.

On March 24, 2014, members of the LSFTF initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Martinez. Through investigative efforts and extensive surveillance, task force officers along with assistance from SAPD determined that Martinez was hiding out with his girlfriend, Rebecca Rodriguez, 23, in a hotel room located in the 2100 block of SW Loop 410, on the northwest side of San Antonio. While conducting surveillance, task force officers positively identified Martinez as he and Rodriguez exited the hotel room. Task force officers approached Martinez, identified themselves, and took him into custody without incident. Task force officers also arrested Rodriguez based on an outstanding warrant for theft of a person.

On February 10, 2010, Martinez was allegedly involved in a shooting that resulted in the death of a man here in San Antonio. Reports stated that two rival groups were involved in a verbal altercation at a local restaurant. The next day, Martinez and his group of friends approached the victim in the 1700 block of West Laurel Street. Martinez allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim. After an extensive investigation conducted by SAPD detectives, a District Court Judge of Bexar County issued a warrant for Martinez’s arrest on March 20, 2014.

Martinez is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Jail.

MARSHALS SERVICE ARRESTED PUERTO RICO MURDER FUGITIVE

U.S. Marshals Arrest Puerto Rico Murder Fugitive in Lebanon County

Fatal shooting occurred over two decades ago
Harrisburg, PA – Today, United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced the arrest of Felix Pinero-Baez, a 63-year old man, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

On October 5, 1986, Pinero-Baez was involved in a vehicular accident in Carolina, Puerto Rico. He fled the scene of the accident. A 35-year old female who witnessed the accident followed Pinero-Baez’s vehicle. She approached it when it stopped, and was shot three times by the car’s driver. In November 1986, the victim died from the gunshot wounds. In January 1987, an arrest warrant was issued charging Pinero-Baez with the homicide. Pinero-Baez has been on the run since, and has never been arrested for this murder.

On August 6, 2013, the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, in coordination with Puerto Rico National Police, requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to assist in locating Pinero-Baez. Information was developed indicating Pinero-Baez was in the Lebanon area.

During the morning hours of August 7, U.S. Marshals, Lebanon City Police Department, Pennsylvania Board of Probation & Parole and Pennsylvania State Police located and arrested Pinero-Baez in the 100 block of North 12th Street in Lebanon. Pinero-Baez was arrested without incident.

Pinero-Baez was turned over to local authorities, and is held at the Lebanon County Prison. Pinero-Baez will be arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Thomas Capello.

United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “The U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force is committed to ensuring victims of such cruelty have justice. Such dangerous fugitives are given the highest priority, and we are committed to taking them off the streets swiftly to prevent further harm to the public.”

U.S. Marshals received significant assistance from the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole and the Pennsylvania State Police. These agencies are participating members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Additional assistance was provided by the Lebanon City Police Department.

The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous offenders.
