U.S. Marshals Task Force Arrests Ft. Worth Murder Suspect

 JETFTF LogoTyler, TX - Jonnie Warren, Jr., 36, was arrested in Kilgore on Wednesday March 23rd for a homicide and aggravated robbery warrant out of Tarrant County. Warren allegedly shot a woman in Ft. Worth and stole her vehicle on Tuesday, March 22nd.

The initial investigation in Ft. Worth developed information indicating Warren maybe in the East Texas area driving a silver 2010 Chevy Impala. Warren was suspected of having two weapons with him and may also be disguised as a woman, since he stole some female clothing. A request for assistance was sent from the U.S. Marshals in Ft. Worth to the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force (JETFT) in Tyler.

After a comprehensive investigation, the vehicle was located in Longview, TX. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle led law enforcement in a pursuit until it was finally stopped on Birch Lane in Kilgore, TX. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene, but the passenger, Johnnie Warren, Jr., was arrested without further incident.

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended down the street from where he abandoned the vehicle. He was identified as Phillip Redwine of Kilgore, TX and was a charged with evading arrest and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Both individuals were booked into the Gregg County Jail.

The law enforcement agencies that participated in the capture of Warren include the Texas DPS, Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, Longview PD, Kilgore PD, Smith County Constable Precinct 4, and the JETFT.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Alleged Shooter of Baby Aavielle

  NOVFTF LogoCleveland, OH – Today, at approximately 10:00am, the U.S. Marshal’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested 19 year old Davon Holmes. Holmes was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Cleveland Police Department for a homicide that occurred at East 145th St. and Spear Ave. on October 1st.

Holmes’ warrant was issued at approximately 9:00am this morning for the shooting death of 5 month old Aavielle Wakefield. On October 1, 2015, at approximately 5:00pm, baby Aavielle was shot in the chest while she sat in her car seat, next to her sister. Her mother and another family member were in the vehicle with her as well.

Within an hour of the warrant being issued for Holmes, he was taken into custody by the task force in the 3300 block of East 140th St. Lawrence Hilliard was also arrested in connection with this case. Hilliard was wanted by the Cleveland Police Department for tampering with evidence. He was taken into custody in the same location as the shooting took place, East 145th St. and Spear Ave.

U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott added, “The death of a child is something no family should have to endure, and nothing we do can bring baby Aavielle back to her family. We do hope that the arrest of Davon Holmes brings some peace to the Wakefield family.”

Federal Inmate Convicted of Murder

Federal inmate Kevin Marquette Bellinger, a former resident of Washington, D.C., and an inmate at the United States Penitentiary in Hazelton, West Virginia, was convicted this week for the murder of another inmate after a 5-day federal jury trial before U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley of the Northern District of West Virginia.

Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, for the Northern District of West Virginia made the announcement.

Bellinger was convicted by a federal jury on June 16, 2014, on one count of murder by a federal prisoner serving a life sentence and one count of second degree murder in a federal facility for his role in the Oct. 7, 2007, murder of inmate Jesse Harris.

According to evidence presented at trial, during a move of inmates from the recreation yard back to their cells, Bellinger and a co-defendant left the yard ahead of the others and traveled to an intersection of two corridors in the prison facility, where they confronted Harris and stabbed him with shanks in an orchestrated attack.   In less than a minute, an officer approached, and the attackers fled.  Officers apprehended Bellinger after a short pursuit, but they did not recover his weapon.   Surveillance footage of the attack showed Bellinger and his co-defendant engaged in a verbal exchange with Harris, followed by the two attackers wielding weapons and physically assaulting Harris, who was unarmed and backing away from them.

At the time of the murder, Bellinger was serving a life sentence for an assault with intent to kill that took place in 2000, and his co-defendant was serving a life sentence for two separate homicides that took place in 1997 and 2000.

Bellinger, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces a mandatory penalty of life in prison for his conviction of murder by a federal prisoner serving a life sentence and a term of years up to life imprisonment for his conviction of second degree murder.

This case was investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.  The case was prosecuted by Trial Attorney Richard Burns from the Capital Case Section of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Flower.

U.S. MARSHALS APPREHEND FOREIGN HOMICIDE SUSPECT

Foreign Fugitive Apprehended in Small Town Georgia

Atlanta, GA – The U.S. Marshals from Northern District of Georgia, Gainesville office, with the assistance of Gainesville Police Department, arrested a foreign fugitive yesterday who is charged with aggravated homicide in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

Marcos Trejo Villeda, aka Marco Antonio Trejo Villeda, 33, has been a fugitive since 2011 when he was indicted for the murder of two individuals in the town of Xilitla. On July 3, 2008, Trejo Villeda attended a party where he began arguing with Tito Herrera Trejo. As he was leaving the party Herrera Trejo threw a beer can at him. Trejo Villeda did not respond but continued to leave the party. Shortly thereafter, Trejo Villeda returned and without a word, fired a gun at Herrera Trejo and Meregildo Rojo Martinez, shooting them in the head, killing both victims. Trejo Villeda then fled from the party.

On October 22, 2013, a provisional arrest warrant was received by the U.S. Marshals in Houston, Texas. Marshals in Houston located Trejo Villeda in Gainesville through a 2011 arrest by Hall County Sheriff’s Office for DUI. He was sentenced and released. Trejo Villeda believed he was in the clear because in September 2013 he renewed his driver’s license and vehicle registration under his legal name.

The Marshals in Houston sent the lead to the Gainesville sub-office. The deputies quickly started working the case. After conducting surveillance at the two addresses in Gainesville, they soon realized that this case would be more than just a discrete locate. The Assistant United States Attorney in Atlanta obtained an arrest warrant on January 15, 2014.

On Tuesday, deputies conducted surveillance at the home address and located two vehicles registered to Trejo Villeda with an apartment address. Yesterday morning, while conducting surveillance at the apartment, deputies observed the truck registered to Trejo Villeda leave and drive to the home. Trejo Villeda parked the truck, entered a van and left to a nearby Racetrak gas station, where he was arrested by the Marshals Service with the assistance of Gainesville Police Department.

Trejo Villeda is currently awaiting extradition to Mexico to answer the allegations in the indictment.

U.S. MARSHALS SERVICES SAYS "ALLEGED KILLER RUNS HOME TO HIDE"

Alleged Killer Runs Home to Hide

Albuquerque, NM – On June 15, 2013, Jashon Warren allegedly shot and killed Michael Moore outside the Bird of Paradise bar in southeast Albuquerque, NM. The Albuquerque Police Department obtained a warrant for Warren’s arrest charging him with Murder. Albuquerque Police Department (APD) Gang Unit Detectives developed information that Warren fled New Mexico and ran to his home town of Sacramento, CA.

On August 1, 2013, United States Marshals in Albuquerque, NM, were asked to assist in locating and arresting Jashon Warren in California. Deputy Marshals in New Mexico and California, working in conjunction with APD Gang Unit Detectives, were able to track Warren to the 2500 block of Kit Carson Street, Sacramento, CA. Deputy Marshals and task force Officers from the Eastern District of California, moved in to arrest Warren and that’s when Warren took off running. After two foot chases, 1 through a creepy cemetery at night, and a 2 hour game of hide and seek, Deputies were able to corner and contain Warren in an apartment in the 2600 block of Kit Carson Street in the Housing Projects of Sacramento.

Deputies surrounded the apartment and were able to call Warren out after several hours. Warren will be extradited back to New Mexico to face charges of Murder, Shooting at or from an Occupied Motor Vehicle, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

MAN GETS LIFE SENTENCE FOR ROLE IN TRIPLE MURDER

WASHINGTON - A Bridgeport, Conn., man was sentenced on Monday by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill to life in prison for his role in the murder of three Bridgeport residents in August 2005, said Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney David B. Fein for the District of Connecticut.

Azikiwe Aquart, aka “Z” and “Ziggy,” 32, pleaded guilty on Aug. 26, 2011, to three counts of murder in aid of racketeering.  In pleading guilty, Aquart admitted that he agreed to participate in what he believed would be a robbery with his brother and others.  Aquart admitted that after he and his co-conspirators entered the apartment, he murdered James Reid, while other participants in the crime murdered Tina Johnson and Basil Williams.

According to court documents, statements made in court and evidence introduced during the spring 2011 trial of Azibo Aquart, Azikiwe Aquart’s brother, Azibo Aquart was the founder and leader of a drug trafficking group that primarily sold crack cocaine out of an apartment building on Charles Street in Bridgeport.  Azibo Aquart and his associates participated in acts of violence, such as threats and assaults, to maintain their control over the group’s drug distribution activities at the Charles Street Apartments.  In the summer of 2005, Azibo Aquart and his associates became involved in a drug trafficking dispute with Johnson, a resident of Charles Street Apartments who sometimes sold smaller quantities of crack cocaine without the approval of Azibo Aquart.  On the morning of Aug. 24, 2005, Azibo Aquart, Azikiwe Aquart and others entered an apartment at the Charles Street housing facility and murdered Johnson, her boyfriend Reid and her friend Williams.  The three victims were bound with duct tape and brutally beaten to death with baseball bats.
On May 23, 2011, after a month-long trial, a federal jury in New Haven, Conn., found Azibo Aquart guilty of the murders of Johnson, Reid and Williams.  On June 15, 2011, the jury voted unanimously to impose the federal death penalty against Azibo Aquart for his role in the murders.

This case was investigated by the FBI, Bridgeport Police Department, Connecticut State Police, Connecticut Department of Correction’s Intelligence Unit, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Homeland Security Investigations, U.S. Marshals Service, Bridgeport States Attorney’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office.

This case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Tracy L. Dayton, Peter D. Markle, Alina P. Reynolds of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, and Trial Attorney Jacabed Rodriguez-Coss of the Criminal Division’s Capital Case Unit.”
