West Coast Homicide Suspect Arrested in West Texas

 LSFTF LogoSan Antonio, TX – Logan Anderson Swank, 20, was arrested this morning by members of the United States Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in San Antonio, TX. An arrest warrant was issued pursuant to an investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD) Homicide Detail, where it is alleged that Swank committed homicide.

This morning, members of the LSFTF were contacted by detectives from the SBCSD to assist in searching for Swank here in San Antonio. Members of the LSFTF immediately initiated an investigation in locating and apprehending Swank. Through investigative efforts, task force officers determined that Swank was hiding out in an apartment located in the 8000 block of Midcrown Drive, on the northeast side of San Antonio. While conducting surveillance, task force officers observed Swank exit an apartment and walk toward the parking lot. Task force officers approached Swank, identified themselves, and took him into custody without incident.

On September 29, 2014, Logan Swank and another accomplice, Wesley Swank, 28, were allegedly involved in shooting a man with a shotgun in the 2200 block of Muni Road, in Apple Valley, CA. Reports stated that the victim was found sitting in a car, located in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The victim suffered from 1 gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. After an extensive investigation by SBCSD detectives, arrest warrants were issued yesterday for the 2 suspects involved in the shooting. Welsey Swank was arrested last night by SBCSD Homicide Detail officers and Logan Swank remained a fugitive at large until he was arrested this morning by LSFTF officers.

Logan Swank is currently being held in custody at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office awaiting extradition to San Bernardino County.

U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE REPORTS HOMICIDE SUSPECT ARRESTED IN NEW YORK BY FUGITIVE TASK FORCE

Harrisburg, PA – United States Marshal Martin J. Pane announced today that the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Fugitive Task Force arrested Johnny Garriga, a 23-year old man, in York, Pennsylvania. Garriga was being sought for a homicide that occurred on December 26, 2013 in Brooklyn, New York. The incident left an individual dead after sustaining gunshot wounds. On December 27, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) requested the assistance of the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (NY/NJ RFTF) in locating and apprehending Garriga. NY/NJ RFTF members believed that Garriga fled the area to the York, Pennsylvania region. An investigative lead was sent to the Middle District of Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force (M/PA) for assistance in locating Garriga. On December 30, Garriga was arrested without incident by M/PA in the 200 block of South Queen Street in York, Pennsylvania. Garriga was turned over to local authorities for processing. United States Marshal Martin J. Pane stated, “Our top priority is to arrest violent offenders, especially those who use guns against our citizens. This arrest takes a murder suspect off the street and it is my sincere hope that this will bring the victims family some measure of justice.” The USMS worked jointly in this investigation with officers from the York City Police Department, York County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Unit, New York City Police Department, and the NY/NJ RFTF. The concept of all USMS-led fugitive task forces is to seek out and arrest the nation’s most dangerous offenders.

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force Arrest Homicide Suspect

Detroit, MI- Investigators from the United States Marshals Service, Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team known as DFAT, have arrested a suspect wanted in the murder of a 21-year-old female found shot to death in a room at the Corktown Inn on Detroit's West side in the early morning hours of April 19.

The victim, Ninoshka Nueves-Figuera, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to her body. It is alleged that the suspect may have been targeting women online and would later rob.

The suspect was arrested at a home located on Detroit's West side after DFAT investigators received several anonymous tips which provided information that led directly to the apprehension of this dangerous predator.

US Marshal for the Eastern District of Michigan, Robert M. Grubbs said "when law enforcement and the community work together, this is the result."

Anyone with information on any other women who may have been targeted are urged to call the Detroit Police.

The Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team is comprised of the USMS, CBP Air & Marine Division, Detroit Police, Dearborn Police, Flint Police, Hamtramck Police, ICE, Livonia Police, Macomb County Sheriff, Michigan Air National Guard , MDOC-ARU, Michigan State Police, Oakland County Sheriff, Sterling Heights Police and Wayne County Sheriff.

DOUBLE HOMICIDE SUSPECT CAUGHT

San Jose Double Homicide Suspect Caught in Mexico
San Jose, CA
– U.S. Marshal Don O’Keefe is proud to announce the arrest of Pedro Medina-Castillon, who is wanted to stand trial in the Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County, for two counts of homicide. The 31-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday in Guadalajara, Mexico, for purposes of extradition to the United States by the Policia Federal Ministerial assigned to PGR Interpol Mexico, working with assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service Mexico City Foreign Field Office, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs.

It is alleged that in July 2012 in San Jose, Medina-Castillon forced entry into the home of Maribel and Pedro Jimenez. While their three children looked on, Medina-Castillon allegedly shot and killed Pedro Jimenez, then went to the master bedroom and shot and killed Maribel Jimenez while she attempted to call 911. Investigators believe Medina-Castillon then fled to Los Angeles and eventually on to Mexico.

Due to a relentless investigation conducted by the San Jose Police Department and U.S. Marshals Service Deputies in San Jose, and with the assistance of the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and the DOJ Office of International Affairs, Pedro Medina-Castillon was taken into custody on the basis of a Provisional Arrest Warrant, which seeks his extradition to the United States.

Other U.S. Marshals Service entities involved in the U.S. Marshals portion of the investigation include the Investigative Operations Division, International Investigations Branch and the Technical Operations Group.

The U.S. Marshals Service is the primary federal agency charged with conducting fugitive investigations throughout the United States. The U.S. Marshals Service regularly works in concert with other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to seek out and arrest violent fugitives and sex offenders, and has established task forces throughout the nation to facilitate the apprehension of fugitives.

U.S. MARSHALS SERVICE ANNOUNCES APPREHENSION OF HOMICIDE SUSPECT

U.S. Marshals Arrest McKeesport Homicide Suspect 
March 28, 2013


Pittsburgh, PA - McKeesport Homicide suspect Mark Leonard was apprehended hiding in the basement of a residence in the 1200 block of Morrow Street, Wilkinsburg, PA, at approximately 9:40 am this morning. He was found trying to secrete himself above furnace duct work to evade capture when U.S. Marshals discovered him and affected his arrest with assistance from officers from the Wilkinsburg Police Department. Leonard, age 32, was charged by the Allegheny County Police with Criminal Homicide and Firearms offenses for his alleged involvement in the January 11, 2013 shooting death of Jayemond Bailey inside the Street Stars Bar in McKeesport. Approximately 20 other patrons were inside the bar at the time of the shooting. Allegheny County Police secured a warrant for Leonard on January 16, 2013 following their investigation.

Leonard is originally from the Hill District and is known to frequent McKeesport and the Manchester section of Pittsburgh. Following his arrest, Leonard was turned over to Allegheny County Police Homicide Detectives.

U.S. Marshal Steve Frank attributed today’s success of taking another violent fugitive off the streets of Western PA to the joint effort of the Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Allegheny County Sheriffs, and Westmoreland County. These agencies, along with the United States Attorney’s Office, are participating members of the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force (WPAFTF).
